Microfinance is an enabling and empowering tool used to fight poverty in many poor countries. It has provided economic opportunities to women and their families as it combines a small business approach, and a poverty alleviation focus that empowers low-income households.
We are working with two groups of entrepreneurial women in the communities of Chilamatillo and Orontes Centeno who already have experience in making and selling clothing, mostly in public places like markets, outside free-trade zones, streets, and to friends and relatives. Our goal is to help women not only by providing small loans, but also help them establish or expand their business, how to save money, manage a business, and take care of themselves and their families.
When women invest in themselves, they learn to value themselves.
